Are you kidding? Prius is THE ONLY 50MPG gasoline car available in the USA and Toyota knows it! Underpaid peons like myself will not be able to buy a new one. Even when I waited until 2008 to buy a 2002 Prius they would not negotiate. Well, I did get them to buff out a few scratches, big deal.
Personally I've insisted since the 80's that any car I buy should get at least 40mpg. I knew that all automakers were holding back. Now, in 2010, I expect them all to get 100mpg. The 2010 Prius is as close as I'm going to get for another 30 years I think. Too bad I have to wait until 2018 until I can afford one..

I just bought a Prius IV with the only option being the solar sunroof package which includes the nav. I used AAA's car buying survice and they got me the car for $730 less than list, with no fees. AAA was great! They picked up the car and delivered it to my house and it took about 20 minutes to take care of the paperwork

You can get in a Basic level Prius for well under 23. Condisering the price of the camry is 32-34, it's a right steal!

Steal? That's a matter of opinion, care to lend me a few k? I could barely afford the 11k I spent for the 2002 Prius I bought last year.

Do you mind if I ask if you paid the sticker price.
Might buy a Prius sometime soon (have to sell a car first). Had one dealer offer me a base model (level II with no extra options) for $1250 below MSRP. Had two other dealers offer $1000 off MSRP. So, I think discounts are there, at least now, and at least in my neck of the woods.

Again, check Fitzmall. They are WAY under sticker and actually under invoice.. If you aren't nearby, you can use them as a bargaining chip with your dealer.

Beware if you are in the Toyota Southeast or Gulf States region. You may think that you are getting big money off your car. However, the discounts are taken after adding big bux for "fluff" packages of stuff with a dubious value.

Right. Aware of SE and GS extra region charges, but I'm not there. The dealers closest to me that are offering good deals are within about $200 of Fitzmall price. The dealership that I like (a small family business with great service department) is hardly willing to take anything off the sticker on a Prius, even today. Oh well, I guess they'll only get my service business.
