Prius Oil Change - what's your interval?
We picked up our 2008 Toyota Prius September 27. We've driven almost 3,500 miles so far, so I'm starting to think about our first oil change.
So...what sort of mileage interval do folks stick to for their oil changes? What sort of oil do you use? Do you change it at home, at the dealer, or an oil-change "service?" Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
Re: Prius Oil Change - what's your interval?
There is no need to change before the recommended 5000 mi/8000 km, according to those who have had analysis done. If you extend the interval, it could void parts of your warranty. I changed Pearl's oil a few months ago at 8000 km, putting in Mobil 1 5W30. Will do so again after a further 8000 km. Oil and filter each time. Takes about 10 min.

Hi,
I do two changes per year:

Toyota knows their engines, changing the oil sooner is a waste of good oil. Just follow the owners manual.

6 months/8,000kms. Usually the 8,000kms comes first around the 5th month.
