I will try and put in Milage but brain hurts trying to convert to your funny measurements

Katz from Canada... we use metric, for Mileage we use Lt/100km.
But here are some factors to help with your conversions:

To convert km/lt to MPG multiply by 2.352146

To convert Litres to Gallons multiply by 0.264172

To convert Kilometers to Miles multiply by 0.621371

You're getting 11 km/lt ...that is 25.9 MPG... very good for a brand new 8 passenger mini-van.

Yo said you should get 16 km/lt on a longer trip = 37.6 MPG !!!!:shade:

(the Toyota Sienna is EPA rated at 21 MPG 19-26).

...please keep posting, this is very interesting.

FYI, following is the data among Japanese Estima Hybrid drivers.(sorry in Japanese)
http://eshy.s22.xrea.com/cgi-bin/nen...?category_s=10
The first column: life time mileage
The second column: best mileage driving more than 100km
The third column: longest distance per tank

Life time mileage: mean value about 15km/L, 35MPG, best 17.51km/L, 41.19MPG for 138,636 km
Best mileage: 24.51km/L, 57.66MPG for 209.8km
Longest distance per tank: 1594.5km, 991 mile, using 73.2L

Enjoy,

It looks like I have a hard time ahead of me. At 50kph (30mph) I was only getting 10 to 12kpl on a flat road. The faster I went, the better the economy.

Do you know "Pulse and Glide" technique?
http://hybridcars.about.com/od/owner...seandglide.htm
The above link is for Prius but the technique can be used for the Estima Hybrid too.

Tried that, Didn't seem to work. Is it possible that it won't work because it isn't a HSD? All it seemed to to was recharge the batteries or run on ICE, no in betwen. I will try again on my up coming trip.

How fast were you driving?
Above 60km/h (70km/h for the later model or Prius), the engine is always spinning and it is difficult to do gliding.

The engine seems to be spinning all the time, except when the batt is fully chaged, then it seems to run on Electric for a while then back to ICE. Tonight I tried it again. I suspect that the display seems to show regen charging even though it is coasting. you can feel the difference when you take your foot off further. Speed didn't seem to mater. Part of the problem is maybe short runs so batt is never fully charged.

- The engine won't stop during the warming up stages.
- Are you familier with the four or five warming up stages?
- The engine won't stop occasionally if you use heater or A/C.
- The regen occurred when you release the accelerator pedal, and the gliding can be done slightly pressing down the accelerator.
- The normal or target battery level is about a half way. The battery won't be full unless you are going long down hill or other special case.

Ken@Japan

PS. Can you or your friends read Japanese web site?
There are a lot of Estima Hybrid site in Japanese.

I can't get to glide it on the screen. It goes green, or back onto ICE when even ever so slightly back onto the accelerator. I also can't read Japanese or know any japanese people. I will try again on my trip(600km) which is lots of rolling hill country and with a 550m high pass.

I would recommend you to visit http://priuschat.com/ because Prius and Estima hybrid have similar charactors.
