Fake data... strange

I don't mean to be overly concerned, it may well be a mistake or confusion, I'm not saying it's on purpose, but there seems to be a user with 3 cars, same name, 1 tank each as override and one of them oddly low...

Makes the graph look really bad for the Prius II

You're right. Interesting. I'm going to remove those cars and contact the member. Here's the info for reference:

Quicksilver ('05 Toyota Prius II)
300 miles @ 42.4 MPG

Quicksilver ('05 Toyota Prius II)
300 miles @ 7.1 MPG

Quicksilver ('05 Toyota Prius II)
300 miles @ 42.4 MPG

Hi Jason:

___While you are at it, check out poyntesm’s 2004 Toyota MR2 named Red Roster. 222 mpg after 2 miles is a bit much ;) I E-Mailed him a few weeks ago when it first appeared but he did not fix or remove it. Kindly help him remove it please.

___Thanks in advance.

7.1 mpg?? No way!

Re: Fake data, strange user?

Hi Lakedude:

___I bet he botched the data entry and meant to put in 47.1 mpg? The 300 miles tank after tank looks odd however …

___Good Luck

I did the best I could in trying to puzzle out the meaning of your prompts, which are far from self explanitory. I had no clue that I was making three separate entries, but rather was attempting to correct mistakes. My data are not fake. I will make one more try to enter the data, while suggesting that you try to provide clearer instruction in how to do so.

Re: Fake data, strange user?

Paul, database instructions are definitely on my "todo" list for the next few weeks before I go to college. My apologies.

What you'll want to do is first add a car via the Edit your Cars/Tanks page. After you've created your car, fill out the form on the Add New Tank page for each tank. The system will do the rest.

Paul, here are the records for what you did the last time around. If you need any more assistance on the second try, let me know.

Re: Fake data, strange user?

Paul, you've now added a car with a lifetime mileage override. Any supplemental tanks you add will not be calculated in. I suggest you remove this "optional" information and then add a tank via the Add New Tank page.

Re: Fake data, strange user?

Jason, I have a question, that is not meant to muddle the instructions you are providing to Paul ..

Although I am quite willing to add each tank's data to the database one by one, and think there is a lot of value in doing so -- if a person just wanted to plug in their updated lifetime mpg once in a while, could the lifetime mileage override be used for this purpose ?

edit: looks like maybe they put metric data in

Re: Fake data, strange user?

Whilst this thread is started. I found out that the manual Insight Coolio topping the charts has a skewif data entry too. The owner admitted the other day that he has never broken the 100 Imperial mpg barrier and that he messed up the entries. Xcel should be pretty pleased about that one.

Schwa 08-18-2005 01:30 AM

Re: Fake data, strange user?

Yeah, I had noticed that, looks as if he entered UK Imperial data as US data.

Re: Fake data, strange user?

Hi Stoner:

___Yes, Coolio only posted his 2 best short tanks as it was rumored over at IC? He has the data for all of his lesser tanks but decided it was best if he didn’t post those IIRC ;)

___The guy to watch is Highwater as he is doing some hypermiling tank damage with his relatively new (10 tanks old) 01 Insight. I would not doubt that by this time next year he is on top of the charts if he can maintain 75 + throughout the winter months and pick it up mightily again in early spring through late summer … He is my personal odds on favorite at this point in time given his Insight’s low mileage and excellent last tank with another big one heading our way.

___Good Luck
