Power? Reputation?

Perhaps I have been missing something but can someone please explain to me what these numbers mean?

Its just some numbers that get handed out by the user base. If you like or disklike a post you can click add/subtract to increase or decrease these numbers. When used they help people determine the general worth of a person in the forums. Like does it look like this guy knows what he is talking about or is this guy a poser that always posts misinformation.

It's a more visible version of this:

I just changed it so that you can see everyone's values. Power is influence, which is based on reputation (1 pt per 100 rep), posts (1 pt per 100 posts), and length of membership (1 pt per year).

I have tons of power because I have tons of posts. If people say I should have better reputaiton, my power to influence others will increase, as well.

Jason,

You might want to check on how the reputation is being displayed. I believe that it is showing the absolute value of the reputation, not the real reputation.

I know this because I just disapproved of a post by someone with a zero (0) reputation and it then showed as one (1) not minus one (-1).

Make sense?

Yes. That's what's happening.

Re: Power? Reputation?

Heh, so my feedback could actually be negative? So in theory, a troll or somesuch could accumulate a reputation higher than anyone else?

Anyway, thanks for the explanation. I understood the rep system, as I'm used to that, but I didn't realize the power was the duration indicator.

Re: Power? Reputation?

I've made a small change and have now verified that the reputation displayed is the true reputation. There are currently only 2 members with negative reputation (neither visit) and a few with 0.
