Just curious... I ordered my '09 FEH on 6/5 and am still waiting for any official status info on it (I've received nothing beyond my original order number).

I'm wondering if anyone else ordered their '09 FEH in the month of June or later and what the status is on your order (e.g. have you been able to get a VIN number, a build date, delivery date, etc. )

Also... since there's a rumor afloat that some markets get higher priorities than others, I'm wondering what state you live in (if you don't mind sharing that).

I ordered mine 6/19 and I still have not heard a thing about it. I live 4 hours away from the plant.

So I don't have to repeat myself again, I posted some information to Callen on CleanMPG.com.

Once you get a VIN number you can ask ViperPilot (a Ford employee) at BlueOval.com (you must join the free forum) to give you the status of your order in Ford's computer. Here are the dates of the status of my '09 Fwd FEHL:

Receipt Date: 4/29/2008
Serialize Date: 5/29/2008
Segment Date: 5/29/2008
Sequence Date: 7/2/2008
Blend Date: 7/9/2008
Produced Date: 7/17/2008

At the Blend date above, ViperPilot adds a copy of your window sticker. First ordering date for Ford dealers began April 17th and the first '09 started production 6/23/08. The dealers only have a certain amount of FEH's that they are allotted base on prior sales. The dealer gives a priority number on your order from 10 being the highest and 100 being the lowest. The priority number I got was 14, so the dealer wanted 4 other units before mine to be built and shipped to them.


Keep asking your dealer for your VIN number until you get it! Once you get the VIN,
go to this Forum and start a thread asking ViperPilot to give you the status of your VIN:

Read the rules of that forum and click on some of the other request of other members to see their order status and widow stickers. This will give you a better idea where you stand with the unit your dealer ordered for you.

I personally think it doesn't matter what State your in for the '09 models, but how many vehicles a dealer sales. Also, I was told that so many States are in a Region that allocates how many units goes to each dealership.

You need to look at your Vehicle Order Confirmation (VOC) and see what priority your dealer put you at. Also, make sure your name is listed on the VOC. When I got my second VOC with my name on it, that date was listed above as "Receipt Date" and the order was with the Ford Plant in KC. I would be concerned if your dealer has not given you a VOC with your name on it by now.

You are 100% correct about Ford playing favorites with their "good ol boy" dealers.

Both Gary and I live in South Florida. I went to a local family owned dealer, Gary went to a dealer that sells more cars than the one I went to. Last time I checked, they both had identical signs out front that have the letters FORD on them.

I ordered my vehicle on 04/28/08, one day before Gary, but I am penalized for going to the local dealer instead of driving to the big city.

To make matters even worse, another big "good ol boy" city dealer got an FEHL for STOCK and it is sitting on his showroom floor as I continue to wait.

Meanwhile I just got my VIN (08/07/08), but my truck still hasn't even been scheduled for build while Gary is driving his around.

I have been keeping a log and can provide you with information (including vin #'s) on at least 20 other FEH customers that ordered AFTER 04/28/08 (and after you ordered yours)They have already taken delivery.

This is costing Ford customers, and it will certainly be my LAST Ford purchase.
I guess Ford thinks that the dealers are more important than the customers. I wonder what the dealers would do without customers???

I'm in the same boat as 08FEH. Went to the local dealer and ordered on 5/13. Nothing as of yet either. Should have went to a bigger dealer. I'm in western NY.

 

I started perusing BOF, and found some interesting window stickers, most are FEHL's. But what's funny is the 16" wheels and 17" spare. What's up with that?!

Let me guess my mini spare is 17" too....

 

There is less "sidewall" on the spare, so the rim is larger.

The overall diameter of the tire and rim should be very close to the diameter of the tire and rim on the vehicle...

 

My donut rim on my '05 FEH is 18" with a lower tire height and my '09 has a 17" rim with a taller tire height. My '05 donut says inflate to 60psi also. These spares are garbage IMO and they look like garbage on the vehicle. Even if you order a full size spare, you get some ugly cheap steel rim that you can't rotate the tire unless you pay to have it removed from the rim and re-balance both tires.

The standard FEH rim is a special light weight rim for Low Roll Resistance (LRR), and so is the stock tires. In 2005 I ordered a stock rim and tire for my FEH. At 5,000 miles, I bought a lifetime rotation, balance and road hazard protection for all my stock tires from Goodyear. Free roadside tire service is for the first two years only.

For my '09 FEHL, I already have the new spare that matches the set of Limited rims which are 2 pounds heavier than the standard FEH rims. Those rims and the new Michelin Latitude Tour LRR tires weigh the same combined as the Stock Eco-Plus tires and the standard FEH rims. The best LRR FEH set-up IMO is the new '09 standard FEH rim and the new Michelin tires for the best MPG. My youngest Son just got his permit and I'm teaching him how to hypermile both my '05 FEH and my '09 FEHL. Both of us are doing better in the '05 since I put two new Michelin LRR tires on the front.

I still have both my temporary donuts in case I need a temporary spare after a flat in either of my FEH's.

I am in the same boat as tcampb,prattman and callen- ordered a 2009 XLT 6/27/08; My Norfolk, VA dealer pleads cluelessness about delivery possibilities. They say they fish for updates Fridays. Earlier this week I came across www.donlen.com/buildstart_trucks_ford.html and that leads me to believe I'll be waiting beyond October. Asked the dealer to confirm the donlen info but have not heard back yet. No VIN yet but I see from my vehicle order confirmation that I am a Priority 10- maybe that's good.

 

The donlen info applies to fleet sales through donlen (at fleet management company). Escapes have been rolling off the assembly line since June 23rd (except for the two week holiday shut down from July 28 - Aug 11). My FEH FWD Limited was built on 8/20 and I received confirmation yesterday that it is currently at a KC railyard waiting to be loaded for shipment. I ordered it on 5/8.
