That said, there is a complete new unit right now on Ebay with starting bid at $150. The battery level gauge is worth that IMO.

Hi Elaine,
The '05 FEH came with the unit as a stand alone unit W/ 7 speakers. Walt posted right after me and says if you want the unit stand alone, it only comes with 4 speakers. This makes sense because there is a separate connection from the Nav unit to the Subwoofer Amplifier which you wouldn't have. The Smart Juction Box must supply separate power to the subwoofer amplifier and to the additional speakers. If Walt is right, you may be able to make it work just by plugging it into the existing plugs.
The question would be, does the new unit for sale have the Nav antenna and the energy connections. One other interresting thing to note is that my FEH does not display the average MPG on the dash like the non Nav FEH. If I were to purchase that unit, I would have it installed by the dealership, and perhapes ask them first. Many here have that knowledge and would most likely switch out or modify the connections to make it work. Also, a radio installer could most likely do the same.
From what I see from the pictures, the unit includes the 6 CD changer which could mean the package is for a upgrade which you would be making. Everything you need may be included, email him and ask.

If I were building the things the harnesses would be there because its easier to fit out each vehicle differently, but I'm not sure what Ford does.
Don't worry Elaine I'm not going to bid on it I already have one.

Tim, I think your right because that clamp at the bottom looks like it slides onto a bracket that holds the Nav unit in the dash. That many connections is not for a 6 CD changer.
So bottom line would be, it is not a complete unit and other components would need to be purchased. No telling the need for the wiring requirements.

The second picture is definitely the back of the head unit, with the nylon slider that allows the unit to slip into the dash. It looks just like the back of the radio from my '98 Explorer.
I noted that the seller does not take Paypal or any other protected form of payment. The seller is also from the Kansas City area, where the FEH is assembled.
Caveat emptor!

| I went back and re-read the eBay posting. He does specifically state
| that it is just the head unit ("THIS IS A NEW HEAD UNIT"). It might
| be safe to assume that it does not include the CD changer, nor the
| Audiophile amps.

Re: Factory Install Nav. Not Bad
The gripes I've had with it, one of which I've got a workaround for are:
It absolutely refuses to route me on HOV only roads in the Wash D.C. area (specifically I-66 inside the beltway). I've not found a user configurable option that makes the unit avoid HOV.
The inability to allow the passenger to search for points of interest while in motion. I've since fixed this with the toggle switch in the Vss signal line to the unit.
This is not a Nav system gripe but a CD player usability gripe; there is no pause function for the CD player or CD DJ unit. My other Ford vehicles (Windstar and F150) have a Pause button. If I'm listening to a CD and need to take/make a phone call I have to go to Radio then mute the unit. At least they could have configured the mute button to pause the CD or CD DJ
