I gather that it is some sort of start-up diagnostics mode, but my searches of the Forums and FEH FAQ have not yet revealed what this is or how to achieve it.
thanks...

Re: Not ready for winter
Before turning the key, press and hold the ODO reset button, then turn the key and wait till you see the word "test" on the green display. Then each single press of the button will provide new data. One is et or "engine temp".

The water temp got to 51(°C) and held there for a few seconds and the ICE fired up. Looks like 125°F is the on point for the '05 - at least based on this one test.
Maybe intake air temp is the culprit......

Any key to what they all mean?
Is there any danger of resetting something important? I can see that some of these appear to be counting up or down pretty rapidly. Wouldn't want to press a button at an inopportune time and have something unfortunate happen as a result.
cheers...

I don't think there is anything resettable. It's strictly diagnostic. Pretty cool to watch too...

Kinda happy ending
I've been driving the company truck the last few days so it took a while until I needed gas. The tank came in at exactly 36 mpg. Not bad after all. We'll see how it goes from here as the weather gets colder. I'm hoping to at least stay in the mid 30's.
I freed up my other garage space (sold my gorgeous '65 'Stang ) so maybe having it out of the elements at night will help out a little. We shall see....
