2005 FEH - What To Do?
Hello All!
I am very new to this sharing space but it has proved promising thus far! My name is Denise, and I recently invested in a 2005 FEH. I bought the car at 76k original miles for $4,000 from a guy in my hometown, knowing nothing about hybrid vehicles but I was ultimately drawn in by the pristine condition of the car and the sharp records that the previous owner kept of the vehicle (all services documented and check ups every 5,000 miles).
About a month after driving the vehicle around town I took it on a long-distance trip to Las Vegas (2hrs). On the way home both the check engine light and service wrench came on on the dash, alongside with the error message “SERVICE EMISSIONS SYSTEM”. The battery display was completely depleted and the car was not outputting efficient gas at all.
Anyways I’ve been told by both an Auto Zone diagnostic and a Battery specialist at a Ford dealership that the HV battery needs replacing. Upon scouring this thread though, I’ve found other instances like mine where small fixes are needed, like instead changing the 12v battery or having the car sit on a charger at the dealership.
This forum is honestly like a beacon of light in all my rather tedious experiences with this car thus far, because I cannot decide whether to have the battery replaced by Greentech (for a small fee just shy of $2500) or to just ditch the 3ton paperweight. I’ve heard that the entire battery replacement is just a runaround by dealerships but also that it’s necessary in certain instances. Just need someone who’s gonna tell me the truth!
My FEH is a beaut on the outside but I’m a college student and don’t exactly have the means to meet the $$ demands.
Thanks in advance!

Have to post the codes. Buy one of those bluetooth scan tools for $20 on amazon and use forscan free to see what's inside. Service emissions system doesn't sound like a problem with the battery.
