Below 31'C, A/C cooling is usually not used for the battery pack.
Good to know -- my experience bears this out completely.

Using the a/c all the time (though still using ECO) hasn't been very helpful with MPG numbers. I console myself with the fact that even the lower MPG numbers are far better than what any other SUV can hope to get.

Sorry to get a little off track, but could somebody please post the link on how to measure the traction battery pack’s temperature on the LCD dash.

I have searched several times through the forum, and I can not find that topic.

Maybe then we can measure our traction battery pack temperature and see for ourselves how fast/slow it cools a hot battery.

Thanks

Rick

To enter the LCD diag menu, 1) press and hold the trip odometer reset button 2) start the vehicle.

After a few seconds the lcd will say something about test. To step through the items, press and release the trip reset button. I don't remember what the text is for the battery temp, but it made sense. There are also lists of the items around the net, but I couldn't find one with my quick search.

On my 08 FEH the system test is done differently. There is no trip button.
You hit setup, then reset

I was also thinking, if you could add a secondary HV battery cooling function. It could keep the battery cool enough to allow more EV in hot climates.

Battery temp is: bt ###

Where ### is degrees C.
It takes approx. 24 presses of the button.

Other codes of worthy note:

E ###.# is speed in miles per hour (English) ( to the tenth! )
###.# is speed in kilometers per hour ( Metric)
t #### is digital tach
ET ### is Engine Temperature in degrees C
TR ##.## is Trip Odometer in miles and hundredths of a mile ( not 10ths! )
BAT ##.# is standard battery voltage

Towards the end ( about 63 button presses) you will find:
AD4 ### this is oil pressure. It is an 8-bit value from 0-255.

I normally get 150-160 for oil pressure.

This value is 160/255 which is 62% of the sender's max value.
But I have no idea what the oil pressure sender's max value is.
If anyone knows what this is, that would be helpful!
Thanks! -John
