Fuel level and fuel pumps

Fuel level and fuel pumps
It use be the case that you where not suppose to run the fuel lower that 1/4 of a tank on fuel injected cars because it was what cooled the pump and you had premature pump failure.
Is this still the case with newer cars? Ice systems?

Re: Fuel level and fuel pumps
Kind of an 'urban myth' with enough statements that are related to real facts to make it sound plausible......yes, the fuel flowing thru (even the last drops) that help to cool the pump...

Re: Fuel level and fuel pumps
If the FEH is like my 01 Mustang the fuel pump is suspended in a tank that also provides cooling by remaining full to the bitter end of the fuel.
This tank holds probably a half gallon of fuel separate from the
tank itself. The shop manual shows something like this.
