Default Yukon Hybrid

It is out. Coming in late 2007.

Looks like the battery pack is smaller than the FEH's.

Looks like it has a miller cycle engine also. BTW volts does not = power. Its battery pack could be larger but of lower voltage.

I watched a show on TV about it, if it gets close to the 21 they claim it will sell like crazy. Supposedly it is not going to be a LOT more money and it makes crazy HP so I am betting it will be a good seller.
I have told all my "I MUST HAVE a huge car to get groceries and carry my 1 kid in" friends about it trying to influence them to look at it.

One word- yech!

I guess one should be glad some of these tanks driving around might get over 20 mpg, but it sure would be nice if people would make better choices to begin with... but yea, some improvement is better than nothing (thinking people back in Texas with boats.)

Still loving my Escape...

I looked at the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid website the other day. They didn't have pricing available yet, but it looks to be steep. There were only about 3 or so options available, basically nav system, rear dvd player and sunroof. Everything else was standard, including leather, full power seats, auto climate control, etc.

If you load up a non-hybrid LTZ Tahoe, it's possible to get up to over $58k for a new Chevy. I wouldn't be surprised if the Tahoe hybrid comes in at least in the high $40k range and likely in the low $50k's. The GMC Yukon hybrid is likely to be even more pricier.

For that, you could almost buy two FEH's!

The website claims the HV battery pack is 300v. Pretty close to what we have in our FEH/MMH's.

Check out the title bar. They claim "GMC - 2008 Yukon Hybrid | World's First Hybrid SUV"

First hybrid SUV ???? Possibly, they have been hiding in their cubicles too long and haven't been keeping up with the times ?

Electric A/C that runs off the HV battery ....

"Unique HVAC system features a
300-volt electric air conditioning
compressor and electric heater coolant
pump. Compressor and pump use no
belts, operate even when engine is in
Autostop and operate as needed

We could probably all be driving something more efficient but, really, too many trucks are driven by people who just like big vehicles and don't mind giving lots of money to oil companies. It's like all the people I see running around my neighborhood in Land Rover products. It's just dumb and inconsiderate.

However, to be fair, the Tahoe Hybrid is rated at about 40% better city mileage that a comparable gas model. That's significant and it has a big impact on actual total consumption. So, good for them!

The technology is pretty cool. For those interested, Car and Driver got one and tested it. They published the following fairly detailed review a few days ago:

I do find that statement mis-leading.

A more truthful statement would be:
"World's First Full Size Hybrid SUV"

The MMH/FEH is a "compact SUV".
The Lexus and HiHy are "mid-size" SUV's. ( by like 1 cubic foot vs. FEH )

Let's all flood GMC with letters, emails, and phone calls.
