Default Re: Owner's MPG Figures vs EPA Ratings

I drove about 5 mph ABOVE the mostly 75 mph (and a few 55 mph and 65 mph) speed limits for the 215 miles between Willcox and El Mirage, AZ today. My dash gauge was reading 37.1 mpg and the Navi was reading 37.5 mpg when I pulled off the interstate to go home. Had the cruise control set most of the time. Lots of altitude changes, both ascending and descending. A/C on the whole time. Windows up. Accelerated to pass a few 18 wheelers. The car has 1,600 miles on it now. No real technique and I've met the EPA highway figure.

This week, I'm going to shoot for meeting the EPA city figures. I was getting about 25 mpg when I had less than 1,000 miles on the car. I hope to see it reach at least 30 mpg locally now that I've got a few miles on her.
