It shouldn't be any different importing than a regular vehicle. With those miles it was probably highway. If the engine made it this far it should keep going if maintained. It most likely was so keep that up. Batteries are chemistry. The Ni MH battery cells in 2 Modes are exactly the same as Prius. Same manufacturer, Panasonic. I see decade old Prius every day still going.

Thanks for the feedback, that is really good to hear. Logically I was thinking the same, a truck with that many miles is most likely all highway and a high mileage truck doesn't really bother me, it was the Hybrid System I didnt know anything about, like maybe the batteries ****, then the truck is worthless etc.

If the batteries do go bad, or the Hybrid system fails, is the truck stuck or does it still drive as a regular gas truck?

If the hybrid battery goes bad, you won't have much of a useable truck. Now a new one from GM parts is about $2500 with exchange of the old one. I can't rebuild the Small Block engine for that much. You can find the individual HV battery modules for sale on EBAY. link below The 2004 and newer Prius uses the same module as GM.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-Toyota-Prius-NiMH-Battery-Module-/251347807920?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a857f2eb0&vxp=mtr
Caution: the Prius has 34 of these and as the Ebay listing says they are about 7.8 volts each. So over 265V on Prius. The GM 2 Mode uses 40 of them. Thats over 312V

It would be possible to buy a few modules to fix a HV pack, but possibly dangerous.

Thats the battery! that thing looks tiny! They look to be really cheap used. What what have much of a "usable" truck? Meaning it doesnt work without the hybrid system functioning?

That long gray topped shiny metal sided thing is only one ( 1 ) of 40 modules in a 2 Mode HV battery pack. So to buy enough of them used 40 * $39 = $1560. Then you would have to put them in.

If only one of those goes bad... you are walking. The hybrid system is how the power gets to the road.

The other point is. These almost 10 year old Prius SUB components are getting a good price. So I would not lose any sleep on the battery. Other components maybe.

does it mean that the hybrid has the potential to be a long-term vehicle?

When the whole thread is about strongly considering buying one that has almost driven as far as the Moon....

Sure!

I'm sure he is considering it as the value is probably very cheap. but would you consider it still reliable despite those miles? I have a 2003 Honda pilot with 210k miles but would use it (when my escalade is in my other home) to drive to the east for 1500 miles each way and not worry. Since I am keeping my hybrid I would like to feel the same confidence driving it as the OP's 220k mile pick-up. I actually like the timing chain of the LFA engine that doesn't have to be replaced every 100k miles which ends up being equal if the battery is easily replaceable and affordable.
