Please keep us up to date. I have a 2009 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid. Everything is running fine until it would go in gear. I put in reverse nothing. Placed it in drive..nothing. The engine runs but it makes this metallic noise. Ive had it towed to 2 different shops. The first shop said it might be the transmission then the second shop said it wasn't the tranny but the engine. Now I have a 3rd shop involved and 2 mechanics used to work for GM and are familiar with hybrids and both said it was the hybrid battery. They said to replace it and it would cost $4,800.00! I researched and found this company Called GreenBean. They will replace my hybrid battery with a refurbished one with a full lifetime warranty, free installment and delivery all for $2,500.00. I think I'm going to give them a try they have a lot of good reviews. Has anyone on here used them? After getting their battery any issues? Thanks.

How does a running engine with a "metallic noise" translate to a battery?

If the engine runs it should go into drive or reverse. A bad battery will cause odd behavior once in Drive or Reverse but it will move or attempt to.

Check the 12V+ bad connection at the 12volt battery will prevent the transmission pump from working correctly.. = No working transmission or the AUX pump failed

since it's a 09 it might have the faulty quick disconnect

also if your getting P0BDD like the thread title (just guessing because you posted on the thread )

there is 5 things that can cause the P0BDD code AND NONE OF THEM ARE THE BATTERY!!!
if the engine is cranking then the battery is fine

it takes about 10Kw to crank the engine over.

No crank might= bad hv battery

you can spend 2500 replacement of random parts if you want to

also 2500 is a good deal, here in california they charge $2950

also is that metallic noise similar to screeching your shoes in the gym?
I heard that one before on a hybrid that i test drove I did not buy it because it had the low oil pressure light issue...

but generic level P0BDD is Inverter temperature sensor is DEAD or shorted to ground and is reporting 0.00volts or 125C to the Hybrid controller module This WILL Prevent the suv from moving to prevent damage to the inverter or drive motor

Have you tried using M gear? if M works then you will NOT be able to back up or USE the Air conditioning but it might go forward ...

Check the coolant level might have ran out of coolant if the inverter is overheatering

Last Friday I replaced the hybrid battery and that fixed it to where it goes in gear now and is driving. The GreenBean Tech cleared all the codes and we went on a test drive. But during the test drive it idled really low and shuddered. It’s causing 3 codes to come up. A “P0AB9-00, P0506-00 and P0C2F-00” code. 🤷🏻*♂️

P0BBD is an excessive variation in battery module voltages!

Inverter has it's own over-temp codes!

It can crank and still be going bad or bad!

Do you keep getting P0BBD codes? That's a battery

Metallic engine noise is something else.
