I got some sort of fuel oxygen sensor replaced last weekend, and the "check engine" light FINALLY went out. This means my car was finally able to pass emmissions. Even after 125k miles, the exhaust was so clean that it scored a "N/A" in all three categories, meaning that it polluted too little to measure. The part was $275.

The odd thing I've noticed is that only the city FE has decreased with time. When the car was brand-new, it got 47/46. Now it gets about 47/42. But if I'm really conservative, I can still beat 50 MPG. Last weekend I got 53 on a 3-hour drive.

Cool Re: Anyone else at 120,000 miles?

I am at 120,242 and sitting at the dealership right now AGAIN. I believed in this car and recommended it to everyone and their brother. sadly that was up until February 2008. I am one of 'those' perfect new car moms. I take it in to the dealer every 5K miles for a service. we have never been late for a 30K service.

oil services are reasonable - $30 each.
30K services are not too bad - $400 each.

First the CD changer started gagging on CD's. Irritating, but I lived with it.

Then the Transmission started juttering. it took 13 months to get the dealer to properly treat the situation, with monthly visits and finally dragging the mechanic with me on a test ride to duplicate the issue. ($3600.00)

then the Check engine light - first there was a Catalytic Converter replacement ($1300.00).

The IMA system has been registering issue codes for 9 months now, we can get the light to go off on its own with the Econ button. $2100 to repair.

Currently they are working on the fan system. I have no idea what it is going cost, but the initial estimate is $100 to Dx and $400 to repair so far. they have one more test to run.

for $20,000 and 6 years of service, It has been a mixed blessing. I have replaced a rear main seal, a battery and tires, but not brake pads or starters or such. I expect that while other cars at this age nickel and dime, this car appears to be trouble free until the warranty runs out and then we are looking at $10K in repairs or just spend $20K and get a whole new one to go 6 more years.

140K miles! I was just bragging how reliable this car was to everyone and then the check engine light came on - $1450 catalytic convertor needs replacing. Not bad since I bought new in 2004. Only other problem I ever had was a dim-wit mechanic who kept car in shop for 17 weeks one summer and still didn't fix problem - towed it to another dealer - within 3 hours fixed - had nothing to do with hybrid technology just a short in the A/C relay switch.

I just crossed 155,000 miles with the previous tank.

*I had the OEM tires replaced at 88,000 miles and approaching a new set soon.
*The small 12v under hood battery was replaced at about 90,000 miles.
*Start clutch went out at around 130,000 miles and Honda paid half the repair bill.
*I replaced both low beam headlight bulbs. I might have to replace the passenger side lower headlight electrical socket for arking/burning.
*The CVT should have the fluid flushed and replaced for periodic irregular slipping.

I've averaged about 62MPG over 155,000 miles. This car has been wonderful. Wish I'd have bought two to use when this one finally wears out.

Just reached 120k. Check engine light has been off & on, took it in today. Looks like the catalytic converter needs to be replaced.

172K+. The Civic has 2 catalytic converters. My first one was replaced under warranty (102K) after a bit of a run around. Second one at about 120K cost me $1400. Now my battery needs replacing- $2200 + installation. There must be used battteries out there, perhaps from a car totalled from front end damage. Any one know how to find a used IMA battery?

If you're near the east coast, there is an outfit on Staten Island (NY,NY) that rebuilds hybrid batteries at about $1000 installed with a one year warranty.

I have not used this organization; I only know that they exist.

ps - My 2004 Prius is at 161,200 miles on the original battery and no major problems, just normal maintenance.

Thanks, Jeff. I live in NY so may drive to Staten Island to have my battery repaired. I may have contributed to the battery's demise because it sat in my driveway for about 3 months while I drove my new Insight, so maybe it would have lasted even longer.

That's too funny. I also have a "03 HCH that has been sitting in the driveway while I drive the new Insight. It's time to put the Insight up for the winter soon though. I'm missing it already

Unlike you though my batteries have been going for a while. My CEL and IMA lights started coming on at about 175K (I have 200K+ on now). I was able to reset it and keep them off long enough to pass the NYS inspection last Spring, but now they come on within a few miles after I reset it. Bottom line is I'm going to have to get the battery repaired by Spring or get rid of the car. The car actually drives fine, the IMA system "drops out" sometimes and the auto-stop doesn't kick in as much as it used to, but all in all the IMA system operates acceptably 80% of the time. And I still get a good 45-50MPG.

But if I do decide to fix the batteries I have been thinking of using these guys myself. If you do end up going to http://www.hybrid-battery-repair.com/ please update this thread to let us know how it went.

Thanks in advance...
