EGR Ports and Valve questions
Hi All,
I've got a 2004 HCH with 232k miles on it. I was just reviewing some notes on maintenance and saw that cleaning the EGR ports and possibly replacing the EGR valve are good things to do. I've never replaced the EGR and I don't have any codes but is it good to just replace anyway given the age of the car? Also, has anyone ever posted a video on how to clean the EGR ports on the HCH? Thanks.

Re: EGR Ports and Valve questions
Usually, there is not a problem with the EGR system unless your engine is running rough or you have a code. However, cleaning the EGR port is extremely simple on these cars. It only takes about 5-10 mins if you have a 10mm socket and some carb cleaner. It wouldn't be a bad idea to clean it but I wouldn't replace it until it breaks.
