Default My first 600+ mile tank!

WOO HOO! And notice I still had two bars of gas left :-)

I chickened out and got gas at 601.4 miles, and it took 10.22 gallons. So my actual tank average was 58.8MPG.

Incidentally, I'm driving a 2005 Civic Hybrid CVT.

Bought it new in 2005 and I've tracked every single tank of gas on this website. That's 70 tanks in 3 years. I've actually had another tank that was most likely over 600 miles, but I never let it reach that before I got gas. This time, I drove around the neighborhood for 7 miles to get the nice round 600 :-)

Good going!. I don't think I have got over 500 miles before fill-up. H

I tend to drive slower than most. I stick to the right lane and go around 57 or so. That's the sweet spot on freeways I have found. I'm also quite a stickler for my mileage and do all the right things to eek out as much as I can.

One thing I have found helps is when going down hills, I actually accelerate a little since that's when I can afford it (just enough that I feel it, but not enough to make the MPG bars go down much at all). That gives me a momentum boost when the hill is over, and then I just coast along.

That's sweet! It looks like your mileage has increased a lot for the last 15 tanks or so. Has your commute or style changed, or is that just the car continuing to do better?

My commute changed in February of this year to be 30 miles each way (60 miles daily), mostly all freeway. Before that it wasn't much shorter (maybe 25 miles each way) but with considerably more stop & go traffic on side roads.

I also like to think that I've gotten better at driving my hybrid :-)

Can anyone post comments about their Honda Accords and what type of Mileage they are getting?

I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX (manual 5 speed transmission). I have gotten 525 Miles on a 14 Gallon Tank -- that's about 37.G MGP -- Averaged between City and Highway Driving.

Any tips on increasing this fuel economy? I would like to achive near 45-50 MPG! One of the first things I would like to do is get a MGP Computer so I can tell when I need to slow down or speed up.

Any other ideas are welcomed.

Thanks!

Usman
