USB Drive Question

USB Drive Question
Ok, I have a 2GB PNY usb stick that works perfect on my 09 Civic Hybrid /w Nav. After reading the book and noting the USB drive could read up to 65,535 songs, i bought an 8GB Verbatim drive.
The 8GB stick will not play. When I plug it in (even with just two songs) it says "Unsupported". The drive is formated as FAT32 just like the 2GB. The only difference I can find is that Vista recognizes the 8GB for ReadBoost whereas the 2GB is not.
Has anyone else had this issue? I don't think it's the size of the drive since many people seem to say they can ran 10GB plus drives.

Re: USB Drive Question
I have a PNY Attache 8gb USB with no issues. I used the HP USB Formatter to format my USB drive ( it is on the hp.com download site ) in Windows XP - it also works in Vista.
You might have hidden files in the root that the Honda cannot figure out how to get past.
My only complant is that the random playback only replays the same 99 songs. I ended up having to load the songs randomly onto the USB to get it to play all songs randomly.
The USB works best if there are no more that 999 songs in any folder. I do not put any songs in the root directory.

Re: USB Drive Question
I'll try that on my laptop... but I hate it when people say vista isn't stable. As long as you don't get Home Basic, it has no issues. Been more stable for me than any other Windows OS (with the exception of 3.1 of course).

Re: USB Drive Question
Cool. Does the '09 Nav now have a USB interface? Is that instead of the PC Card interface I have in my '06? I think I read my system only handles up to 999 songs regardless of how much memory I plug in. Does it now handle 65K songs?

Re: USB Drive Question
The 09 Nav still has a PC Card slot that supports up to 2GB/999 Songs. I haven't used it though. In the arm rest compartment though there is a USB port that you can use memory sticks or your ipod. My 2gb usb works awesome in it, now if i can just get the 8gb to work
