The only time the car makes the really vibration noises is when at the stop an the engine is running or when backing.

I asked a Honda service manager this question and his response was:

Nothing specific.. but it could be a bunch of things including, but not limited to: ATF pump worn or binding, or contamination, sprocket worn or damaged, flyweel/drive plate worn, IMA motor defective... etc... etc... sorry for not being specific
--

Hope this helps.

To GreenMachine:

Can you be more specific about the vibration. It helps to know how many miles you have on the car, when it occurs, how rough it feels. Much more detail will help out a lot. I probably won't be able to help much, but others will.

I have a 2001 Insight CVT with 74,234 miles and I'm getting a major vibration on the drivers side from the engine. The engine motor mounts are in perfect condition and the vibration gets worse in reverse. My brother is a tech for Mercedes Benz and he says that all of the engine mounts are in good condition.
it's on the electric motor side. I don't hear any other noises while I'm driving. When I come to a stop and the gas motor is running your can barely hear it, but you put the car in reverse the noise gets a lot worse.
