Toyota Motor Corp. announced Saturday plans to release in North America in 2006 a hybrid version of the Camry, which is the best-selling passenger car in the United States.
Toyota hopes to sell tens of thousands of the cars in the first year, aiming to dominate the hybrid car market in the United States, where fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles are gaining popularity due to rising gasoline prices caused by soaring crude oil costs.
