Sales of Toyota "Hummer" up over 100% for 2008
Looking through the first half 2008 sales figure for Toyota in the US. Two vehicles stand out with 101.1% and 172.2% increase in sales over the first half of 2007. Toyota's version of the Hummer (aka worse FE) make that distinction with the $64K Toyota LandCruiser and $75K Lexus LX. Both return 18 MPG Highway and 13 and 12 MPG in the city respectively. Fortunately, sales of the Toyo-Hummer account for only .5% of Toyota's total sales.
Toyo-fans don't fret, this FACT will never make it out.

Just curious, the absolute numbers are?
In my mind, the Tahoe two-mode is about the same as a Lexus 450h in price and features. Does this match your understanding?

I've seen $9000-$12,000 off 2008 Suv's and trucks. Fuel cost has seriously hurt their sales and every company is hurting in large SUV sales. The dealers are overstocked. Some people still find it hard to pass up a $40,000 SUV for $28,000 even for 12mpg. Maybe they're praying the fuel prices come back down before they've spent their $12,000 in savings in fuel

Although these are low volume, I was really surprised with big increase in sales. Toyota total light truck sales are down 12.5% but still account for 40% of Toyota sales or 5 times the sales of the Prius.

Truck dealers are freaking out. They are even joining truck drivers in strikes to protest fuel costs. Just look at Toyota Trucks alone. 549,858 down to 478,025. Assume the average cost of all of their trucks are $35,000. That's $2,514,155,000 in lost sales. Yes Billion. Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are losing even more.

Toyota does have the money, though, to keep improving and updating their trucks. Ford, GM and Chrysler don't, and have already started saying they are postponing the next update/revision to the trucks. This will give Toyota a major advantage in capturing more of the existing truck market (i.e. construction companies, etc. that have been loyal to Ford, GMC, etc.).
