Hi Dwmiller438:

___Thanks for the heads up and although it took ~ 15 minutes to download it on dial up, I enjoyed it … Except for the $140K - Ford GT running down the highway at the end? What is that thing worth, 6 mpg

___My only real concern is that Ford does not have a very FE - small ICE to place in their future hybrids The 2.3 is an excellent ICE for the Escape HEV because it has a lot of power and is relatively FE but it doesn’t have the FE capability even when atkinsonized and reconfigured (new heads) into the 2.0e for screamer FE needed in a future Focus or Fusion HEV. I wonder if we will see the Mazda sourced 1.8 L with an Atkinson intake in a future Ford HEV?

___Good Luck

Delays notwithstanding, Ford delivered the first hybrid SUV, a vehicle that is a fully-realized, jeep-road capable truck with sub-compact mpg at an affordable price. If it took longer than expected, I'm OK with that, because I was going to buy it as soon as it came out, and I wanted the bugs worked out beforehand.

We've already done things with ours in the woods that wouldn't be remotely possible with a Prius (and my wife wouldn't let me take her Prius in the woods anyway ). We can backpack and camp without guzzling gas along the way.

Those who know me know that being a cheerleader is not in my nature, but I thank Ford for offering this vehicle. And I like the ad a lot better than the one for Hummers.

It's funny this appears... Just the other night I saw a long-form commercial, meaning like 2 minutes, for the Highlander Hybrid (or was it the Lexus?? LOL) on Mythbusters. Very nice spot, went into some of the hybrid technology. I was wondering why I hadn't seen anything similar by Ford on the air months ago, maybe they didn't want the drive up demand? Or maybe I just missed it....

Did he mention where the hybrid components were built for the Escape?

I'm glad that he mentioned flexible-fuel vehicles also. After all, a FFV will be a lot cheaper than a hybrid, and (like hybrids) they will be *very* patriotic to own.

Of course a FFV-Hybrid would be the best of both worlds...
