Wright Twp. man submits patent for energy-saving device to Ford Motor Co.

WRIGHT TWP. — If you’re driving down the road one day with a fan on the roof of your car, you may have Ed Deets to thank for inventing the energy-saving device.

Two weeks ago, Deets submitted a patent for a wind-driven generator for powered vehicles to Ford Motor Co., where the company’s engineers will hopefully review the plans and make a prototype model.
. . .
In today’s hybrid electric vehicles like the Toyota Prius, a gasoline motor powers the battery that runs the electric motor of the vehicle. Deets’ invention uses a fan to harness wind power and charge the battery, eliminating the need for a engine that runs on gasoline and regular visits to filling stations.
. . .
Uh, we call wind powered vehicles, sail-cars.

So much for a knowledgeable press. Do they ever research reality?

Yeah, this is a little odd. What if it isn't windy?...you wouldn't be able to get very far in such a vehicle.

From what I'm seeing on this "Bell the Hybrid Act" nonsense, apparently not. You know the first thing the Gods do to exact revenge is to make them insane. That pretty well describes what I'm seeing.

I read US patent # 7,135,786. Not a word about efficiency or electrical output. The matter of aerodynamic drag is addressed, in a manner of speaking. The drawing was made on an NHW11 - that was fun.

It is by no means the most improbable device ever patented, but it deserves some consideration in that category. Good luck, Ed!
