Bump. Anyone know the answer on the potential use of the 12v chargers through the lighter plug?

Given that the 12V outlets are non operative when the car is off, I would say no.

The 12V power outlet at the bottom of the storage compartment between the front seats is always live even with the ignition off.

The 12V outlet in the storage bin in front of the shifter is a switched power supply.

At least in my NAH which doesn't have the NAV system.

But, I don't think it matters whether it's on or not, as I will be CHARGING the battery through this outlet (current goes the opposite way), right?

Yes, it matters. If the circuit is broken, it's broken in either direction. If you turn off a faucet in your house, water doesn't flow, doesn't matter which direction.

Then you might have a shot with this one. Personally I wouldn't charge a battery this way. You don't know what gauge wire is being used, and what is between it and the battery. These aren't the old cigarette lighters where they used heavy gauge wire and just about a direct line to the battery. There very well could be a diode which prevents a backfeed too. The only way to test it would be with an ammeter.

read your book... do not use your 12V(the one running on hybrid battery) while using AC.
