How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

My TCH had 12 Kms.

I think I had 15km, but I put about 25km on the one I test drove. I wonder which sucker got that one :omg:

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

25km test drive?! That seems like a long test drive, did you decide to run all your errands for that day and pick up the kids from school?

How many (or should I say, few) kms would indicate nobody test drove the particular vehicle? Put another way, how many kms on average does it take to get a car from the factory to the customer, without any extra (test) driving?

The sales dude tossed me the keys and said try it on the highway too, so I did. I was gone for almost 30 minutes, I think he was relieved to see us come back. They can't complain, they got my money.

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

Mine had 3 miles straight off the truck, when I saw it first. After dealer prep I picked it up 2 days later, I think it had 5 miles but originally the car was on another lot about half a mile away from the main lot and they probably took the car to the car wash so I don't think anybody drove mine outside of moving it around dealer property. I never took a drive test, my first time ever in hybrid was when I drove it off the dealer lot after purchase. The car drove just as I was expecting and I never looked back, sometimes you just got to trust your instincts.

Mine had 15 miles. Somebody must have taken it somewhere before I got ahold of it.

Mine had 6 kms.

I am told the dealer's storage lot is about 2 kms away. My guess the distance travelled from the factory in Japan to the dealer's storage lot is 4 kms.

6 miles... Beginning to see a pattern here?? :)

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

I guess I am the champion here with 204 miles on the car  ... and I probably put 40 or 50 on it myself with the test drive. Yes I did take a long test drive as I wanted to be sure that it has the umpf to take the mountains that we have to cross to get almost anywhere here in the Yakima Valley in Eastern Washington. (being rural freeway, we had to wait for a place to turn around!) It was also on the lot for at least a week... someone had special ordered it then couldn't take it so it had several test drives, but I was the lucky one!

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

Ours had 28 km on it. I was puzzled; when we first saw the car, it was still partially covered with shipping paper and the side mirrors were not yet installed. So I am sure no one has test driven the car at that point. Yet it had 28 km on it. I asked why and the sales person just said that's normal. Looking at other numbers posted here, it seems to be on the high side.

Could depend on how many times it gets moved around. I work near a GM assembly plant and I often see convoys of cars still wrapped in plastic scooting thru town depending on whether they are headed to parking lots, trains, or auto carriers.

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

18 miles.
This wasn't as bad as my 97 Mercury Sable (built in Chicago and delivered to a Chicago Suburb) which had 78 miles on it when I saw it backed off the carrier. It had a sticker on the window stating that it had been "randomly selected for road testing". It was a special order so I knew the VIN before it was built. It was a good car, I sold it to friends after 220,000 miles.

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

Mine had 23 miles on it. I can't understand why as I picked up the car the day it arrived at the dealership. When I was there purchasing my car I first wanted to test drive a new Prius that was sitting there. They wouldn't let me because it was sold to a customer so I'm guessing they wouldn't let someone test drive my car.

Mine had 17 mi, but about 7 of those were from my test drive.

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

I don't know about Toyota, but back in the 'before time' I used to do dealer prep for Chrysler products. Part of the prep was a road test with a recommended distance of 3-5 miles. Looking at some of the mileage figures, I't doesn't look like many are getting a shakedown drive.

Mine had 6 miles on it, 4 of those were from the offending d(s)tealership across town(bought and delivered through our credit union).:)

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

Refused to take a 18 mile on odometer car for immediate delivery and instead waited for shiny new one fresh off the ship with 2 miles on the odometer. Don’t ask me why, my feeling was that if I paid that much for a car, I want a brand new one.

Mine had 25, 12 were mine for the test drive.

14 miles. I was less concerned about the miles than if there was any damage in transit. We found a few minor scratches, but they buffed 'em out for us. Satisfied.

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

Mine had 14 miles on it, and had just arrived at the dealership that day (off the truck from the Houston port). I'm assuming in the hours between someone got a few test drives in.

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

Mine had 5 miles on it. Toyota vehicles usually have 2-5 miles on them as they role off the transport truck fresh from the factory to a dealers lot. They then have to go through PDI (Pre Deilivery Inspection) by the dealer which does involve a road test which will ad a few miles.

Any car purchased from a toyota dealer will always start the warranty clock on miles ticking from the miles at delivery. So a 18 mile delivery car will have the warranty start at 18 miles.

I would not be concerned about a car that has less than 20 miles on it at all. Also if the car has more than 20 then it has probably either been test driven at one point or simply dealer traded from one dealer to another and those miles are transport miles between dealers.

I think it is a little paranoid to refuse a car with 18 miles on it, but if that really bothers some folks than that is fine!

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

If I had waited 2 months like some of the group here and was to be the intended the owner from the gitgo I would also want as few miles as possible on the car. It should basically only have the minimal mileage that is required to get it from the ship, to the truck, to the dealer and perhaps a few miles on the road when they get it. That would account for the 6-10 mile range.

When I had first decided to look at hybrids, the car that ended up as mine was locked up nice and tight on the showroom floor because it 'belonged' to the person who ordered it. I couldn't even get them to unlock it for me to look at the inside!

I just picked it up and it HAD 4.5 miles. It now has almost 100 due to having to drive an hour south to find one without waiting six months.

Re: How many miles/Kms when you took delivery?

The TCH I test drove was one that was reserved for a customer. He explained that in order to buy one you have to let them keep it there for a couple of weeks and be able to put on a certain number of miles so they had one for test drives until the next one arrived (also for a customer). There was no way I wanted my TCH to be used for a couple of weeks of test drives. When they offered me $2000 less for my trade-in than the other dealership it made my decision even easier.

Mine had 9 miles 4 of those from the dealer prep. Took delivery in Aug 3. Still have under 2000 miles now. Guess I better start driving more.

Mine had 250km's:( , part of it was transit from a dealer in the metro area.

I guess it had a few test drives before I brought it home..

Well, it's a lease so I am not worried.

I am now at 12300km's after 4 months! Everything is perfect except for the criquets:angry:
