The Best MPG gets updated when you press the RESET button, only if the current average MPG is higher than the displayed Best MPG.

Reset All, restes the Best MPG as well as the average MPG.

You don't need to wait until you fill your tank, it will reset anytime you press "reset". But you do get a better idea of your average mpg by resetting only when you fill the tank.

I could easily record 99.9 mpg by resetting after driving the 15 miles down to our major shopping and dining areas - but they are 1,500 feet lower in elevation than our house. But the return trip drops the average down to 35 to 36 mpg which is pretty much the overall average.
