Lightbulb 2008 hybrid: Replacing OEM headlamp bulbs

Here's an FYI regarding headlamp bulb replacement: First, as most of you know, you have to go in through the wheel wells to replace the low beams. While you're in there, you can also replace the high beams but that can be done (not real easily) through the engine compartment if your hands aren't too big.

Anyway, on the 2008 hybrid (I don't know if this is valid for any other year), the owners manual lists H1 and HB3 lamps as the bulb types. WRONG! The correct bulb types are H11 and H9. I replaced mine with PIAA Xwhites last July and so far, so good. I don't know if H9s are being used regularly in autos now - I learned that they are used primarily
in motorcyles and are sold in single units, not a pair (at least that's what I found last year).

I hope this info helps someone to avoid the mistake I made: looking up the bulb types in the manual and then ordering them, only to find when I go to replace them that both sets were wrong. If anyone's interested, I have a new pair of PIAA Xwhite H1 and HB3 available cheap

Has anyone installed xenon in the NAH? I've seen posts where regular Altimas owners installed xenon lights either through kits or headlight housing conversions.

Did you use the OEM non hid housing or did you change to the OEM hid housing?

Yeah, the factory non hid housing. I think there is scatter so I try to point my lights a bit lower. I wish HID's were a factory option, oh well

There was a write up using the 3.5 SE xenon housing and it didn't look too complicated except for the bumper removal. I think the used headlights with ballasts and bulbs were $450 or so. There was a small cost for the wiring harness. I don't think this was done to a NAH but a 2.5S.
