Replacing the "Single Horn" on the 2006 Escape Hybrid
One of my pet peeves about my 2006 Escape Hybrid is the fact that it only has one horn rather than the two-horn system that I'd had on all of my previous Ford vehicles. Has anyone replaced the single horn system on their hybrid with a standard two-horn system? Where is the horn unit? Is it accessible without taking off the front grill? Thanks!

i put Hellas in my '97 240sx for track events at Sebring. In traffic, people would freak expecting an 18 wheeler on their backside.
Ordered them from www.griotsgarage.com nicest bunch of folks you'll ever do business with. They also have very excellent detail and wax products (shameless commercial plug for a very good company, and no, I am not connected with them in anyway except being a very happy long term customer).

Re: Replacing the "Single Horn" on the 2006 Escape Hybrid
I replaced the single-note horn on my '08 FEH with the one mentioned from the Ford Edge. Ordered the new horn from the dealer, cost around $58 with tax. The bumper cover had to be removed to get to it, and the shop manual doesn't mention all of the 'edge clips' that also hold that cover in place, unfortunately. After some 'wrestling' with it, I then found that the Edge horn's bracket had to be bent a bit to allow it to fit in the available space, and the wiring was qute 'stretched' to reach. But, it DOES fit, it DOES work, and the horn sounds great. No more 'wimpy' horn for an otherwise great vehicle. Can't believe Ford cheaped-out so badly. How much did they save there ? $3.75, from what the parts guy said at the dealer. There isn't much clearance with this double-horn, and you have to be careful to aim the horns so that they won't collect water.....BUT IT WORKS. Very nice.

I added a push button with a model-T style
Ooouhh Gaaah horn just for fun... mostly when I'm in EV mode in a parking lot.
I had it under the body of the car with clamps.
Then I went off roading and on a wash-board road the darn thing fell off.
I noticed it fall off, and picked it up off the road but never put it back on.
I use the "stock" horn about once a year, so don't see this as a high priority to fix. Two pitches out of tune produce dissonace which I'll admit sounds more "powerful" and demands more attention if that's what you want.
