As i fix one problem another comes up...

Re: As i fix one problem another comes up...
OK so update....
battery was fully charged last night and i left it in plugged not thinking much
woke up and wanted to see if it remained charged... DRAINED.
my conclusion is the relays. its the ONLY thing i touched when i got home to turn off the pump and i might have damaged 1 or both or all since they were extremely hard to get off
again just my non expert opinion but it does seem relays might have cause some battery issues... and since it might short circuit something might cause more issues

Re: As i fix one problem another comes up...
i took the 12v to a discount auto near me and they tested/charged it
said it was a good battery Cold crank was at 800 and 13v charged, i tried again to start up and same issue car starts.... and slowly and rapidly dies with all lights on. hurts to hear the engine do it everytime.
i left the battery installed last night and today it was drained again
heres where my brain starts connecting things: I DID mess with the abs relays and i did replace 1 bc i broke it ( was extremely hard to take out and i had to wiggle the sucker off ) so im concerned that might be an issue. and the issue came RIGHT after i took out the ABS relays -the next day the car didnt want to start bc the battery drain, before that the ABS pump and brake was the ONLY problem and i drove that sucker 4 hours ( 2 am and no traffic to get home )
im off to charge the battery again and i took out the relays and the hybrid battery pin in the back so i dont have THAT issue later being cautious
im no mechanic so im looking up everything, luckily i have a mechanic who does free work on my car ( legit genius just an idiot at life ) so the "labor" is not an issue
i would like to charge the 12v and try it without the relays ( if it stays then bingo ) if it continues then i move on to...
ill do the throttle body on my own while the 12v is being charged. its a tune up that is needed regardless
in this case ... can it be done at home? theres no way to move this sucker
edit: why is the 12v dying...
Edit 2: swapping out my my current vehicle 12v to TCH since its a known good battery and leave it over night. If it dies I know that something is draining it.
ok so i swapped out the batteries for a known 12v that is working...
started without the relays... and the car stayed ON. but died shortly after
i took out the relays and the car died faster and sounded horrible...like it was choking

Re: As i fix one problem another comes up...
i added a 3rd battery to the mix... all 3 batteries keep getting drained... no idea how or why
i got the car running for 2 min.. i think the hybrid battery was the one juicing it tho not the engine

Re: As i fix one problem another comes up...
Hook an ammeter in-line with your battery. See how much current is being pulled.
Start pulling fuses until it goes away.
Continued attempts at operation exclusively on the HV battery run the risk of damaging it.
Solve your 12V draining problem before you attempt to start the car again.

Re: As i fix one problem another comes up...
found a ammeter I had storaged, im sure the relay is part of the culprit.
might attempt it in a few if i get a chance. if not....
will have to test it next week unfort, hurricane irma incoming and need to prepare

Re: As i fix one problem another comes up...
No. That's an AC ammeter. You need a DC ammeter in series. You disconnect one of the battery cables and wire your series ammeter in to complete the circuit. Most cheap multimeters have a 10A mode - which I hope would be enough.

Re: As i fix one problem another comes up...
If you have harbor freight near you:
https://www.harborfreight.com/7-func...ter-90899.html
It might be worth getting two of them so you can have up to 20A of current sensing capability. It's unlikely that it's pulling more than 10A, but the meters can't take the 10A for very long, and two meters would give a little more margin.
