Awesome websites thanks. Can you imagine the excitement if you could finding one a new replacement GM battery underneath that second row seat LOL would be like Christmas. My local yards are well aware of the rising values and there is no negotiating with these guys. Glad that you found that one at a great deal. Did you keep the old one? http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi

I have the core, but I'll return. I'm not going to do anything with it so no value to me except getting my core refund. I only kept it in case the salvage one had a defect after using it. After a couple weeks of use, including some sub 10°F temps, I think I'm ok. Haven't been able to do 28/30 mph in auto stop since I bought this truck, and now I can. Most I think I ever got was 25ish.

I am off work tomorrow so I will swap the packs out. Should be ready to do some testing on the old modules in a couple of days, currently waiting on Jaime to get me some info back on what equipment/procedures he used to gather his data so that I can test and post results that will be useful and informative to the forum.

I did find this great charity https://researchautism.org/ I will probably donate some funds once I get this new battery paid off. Lots of people in this world are in need of help.

Is a battery pack from a GM dealer actually new, and is it the newer generation? I am looking at buying from the dealer at roughly $3200 and a $1000 core.

List price on the battery is $4200. "newer generation" has no meaning. Aside from the part number change, the batteries are essentially identical. The actual electrical cells have been essentially unchanged since 2004 with a very small tweak in 2010.

Update: Replacement battery from Best Hybrid in Chicago area is installed. I was itching to pull the cover on the replacement battery and get ALL module numbers but they put seals on it and if I break them to pull the top the 3 year warranty is voided (bummer) so i will just have to trust them that all the modules are as they said (NEW) With the replacement battery in I can tell that it runs in EV mode a little more below 30mph and I see a lot more of the electric motor kicking in at highway speeds so it is an improvement. As stated earlier I really had no symptoms that I could recognize that the old battery was bad other than a few weeks back when the 2 codes popped up and it drove funny for a day. I have only owned it a short while so I have no idea how it actually drove when new. That is the main reason that I wanted the replacement battery just to see how it would do with it. I have the old battery on my workbench and intend on testing the modules before I either send it in as a core or it proves out to be a good use-able battery that someone may be able to utilize. The technology is fascinating to me, I am so glad that I ran across this old Hybrid Tahoe and that i was able to make it my daily driver "beater" ride. I have enjoyed it so far plus it lead me to this great forum with all the great/respectful/polite/civil/mannerly/humble/gracious/courteous/well mannered and helpful people here. I am honored to be a part of the team.

Old Battery testing is done (spreadsheet attached) it is very weak and the modules do not respond to discharge / charge reconditioning. Looks like it is in fact toast. Putting it back together and into the crate to return it. Also tested the Bought replacement modules, they are around 60% according to my data. (spreadsheet attached)
