Agreed but I was just curious. It would make a big difference on a sports car purchase (60K+)...

SC State Tax was $300 (capped) and Tag/Title was $51. Starting this year, the state is supposedly waving the sales tax on alt-energy/hybrids.

They also match 20% of the federal credit. So I got a total of $3600 tax credits for 2007 because of my FEH.

I also got a 10% reduction in my total car insurance premium (for all 3 of my insured vehicles) because I am a hybrid owner.

Wow. I'm curious why a state would cap their sales tax... Wouldn't they rather take in $2000 in sales tax rather than just $300?

Don't know why they have a cap, but I'm glad they do.

The PHEV mileage values you saw in gpsman1 signature refers to the Hybrids-Plus Escape conversion vehicle he drove. John acts as a consultant for Hybrids-Plus which is located in Boulder, Co. You can take any Escape Hybrid can have it converted to a PHEV version but the price tag is too high for most of us. Go take a peek at the hybrids-plus website for details.

I thinkmine was 28.8 for ny new 06. FWD, moon roof, chrome & oreieum pkg, middle radio, no nav or steps. Take into account possible $3k fed credit and possible state (OK = $1500) makes it less than used!

Mine was pushing 31K but it is fully loaded. However, since we were looking at the X3 and the high end Escape Limited with Nav it was comperable. Add in the 3K tax rebate, really allowing use to contribute another 4K to a 401K (pre-tax decuction), making the rebate "effectivly" 4000 and 27K for the car isn't too bad.

Oh and no State Tax Credit here becuase there is no state tax - We don't have to smog the car for 6 years instead of the normal 2, so I guess that saves $100...
