Re: Ford recalling 2005-2008 FEH for MECS Pump
Still haven't received the recall letter, although I can see that my VIN is part of the recall on https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/.
Wondering if I need the recall letter or if I should just take the FEH to the dealer. I've already replaced the MECS pump myself so just need the dealer inspection to get the reimbursement process started. Reimbursement window ends in April '15. |

How did you apply under the Ford general reimbursement plan? Is there a form somewhere? Did you have to submit the receipt for the MECS pump? Thanks for any info? |

Don
Got a recall notice and went to dealer to submitted MECS pump + coolant receipt. There is no form have to go thru dealer. 2 weeks to get check. My Ford dealer did not verity the replacement MECS pump service writer unsure of policy. |
Re: Ford recalling 2005-2008 FEH for MECS Pump
I got tired of waiting for the recall notice and called the dealer today. They confirmed the recall on my VIN, scheduled a service appointment for the inspection, and told me how to start the reimbursement process directly through Ford.
The only reason for the inspection is to close out the recall on my vehicle. Otherwise the recall stays pending if I sold the FEH or had it in for service. |
Re: Ford recalling 2005-2008 FEH for MECS Pump
Just some info that may help those who have had the recall work performed previously:
I called the customer service number on the recall notice and was told that a dealer service center (not any QuickLane centers) needs to inspect and verify the work. If the work done is correct, the Service Manager needs to file the necessary refund paperwork. It should take approximately two weeks to receive the check. |

Re: Ford recalling 2005-2008 FEH for MECS Pump
I took my FEH in for basic maintenance work and the MECS recall. I did not have any warning lights or issue with my MECS pump even at 121,000 miles. The service manager read the recall to me and essentially stated "it's not free unless the warning light is on". I will be sending my invoice to FORD for review.

NHTSA Recall No. 14V-526
If the original equipment pump is found, it will be replaced with an improved brushless pump. |
Re: Ford recalling 2005-2008 FEH for MECS Pump
As OT7 said, this is an "inspect and replace" recall. Nothing in the recall notice about a warning light having to be on.
