can u guys tell me what your rev says at 65mph? and 55mph.

 

Going off memory I think the tachometer reads somewhere between 1500-1800rpms at those speeds with an unmoving throttle position on level road. How about yours?

 

like 2500-3000

 

Pretty sure I don't see those RPMs till I'm doing around 70-80mph when the wind resistance really starts to negatively affect acceleration and mileage. I have an FWD model though, so no idea if your AWD model has a different drivetrain or options that would cause higher RPMs like that. You're sure about that RPM at those speeds?

 

double check again after work, i have a nissan altima 2.5 and it does like 1.5 at65mph, so im wondering why the E is different, maybe the electric motor?

You must realize your gas engine is NOT connected to your wheels in a hybrid.
Thus engine speed can be all over the place at any wheel speed within limits.

 

That's a good point worth mentioning, which is why I stated my RPMs on straight and level roads at constant MPH. OP, I've verified it a couple times since reading your thread, and I am indeed under 2k RPM between 55-65mph on straight and level roads, and at constant speed (i.e. NOT accelerating). Hope this helps, and let us know your outcome.

 

i was doing 55 and on the same road it did 1.5k 1.8k 2.3k rpm... so idk im goind to do an oil change and see if theres any difference... i also put a magnaflow muffler....lol and a 2.5" catback pipes..so im nut sure if its the muffler sound that makes me think its working harder

 

Mine read 2000rmp at 62mph on a straight road. There might have been a tailwind or headwind, the road may not have been perfectly level, and there may have been a drafting effect from other traffic, but 2000 would be pretty close.

 

Yours is normal.

There is no correct rpm for a given speed.

Only two rules exist:

The gas engine may never spin faster than 3,000 rpm at zero mph.
The generator will over spin and self destruct.

The gas engine may never spin SLOWER than 2,000 rpm at top speed of 104 mph. Same reason as above.

There is no neutral. The N position is just pretend. Simulated.
The gears in this car are always in mesh. There is no L gear. There is no Reverse gear either.

That thingy you put your hand on to move is basically a computer joystick.
This car is drive by wire.
