I have run out of gas twice.
The battery will drain further than the typical 40%, but the exact SOC is unknown... but it is a very low level.

If you are in a "normal" condition for EV, then you get the full 0-40 MPH.
BEFORE SOME SENSOR TRIPS...

AFTER some failsafe sensor trips, the FEH enters "limp home mode" and you are computer limited to 22 mph.

Gary had a unique, not typical occurance.
In most cases, if you run out of gas, you will get 0-22 MPH and 0-2 miles.

Maybe this is urban legend, but I "heard" that fuel injectors do not like running dry. Did the engine start right up after filling, or did it have to turn over a while while the fuel line/injectors get primed?

Thanks,

For me, it started up pretty quick both times. No excessive cranking.

Jim, since his A/C had drained the refrig, the TBCM sensed the lost in pressure. It appears the battery got warm during the day and the TBCM called on the A/C to assist. Now it appears the PCM would not allow the eCVT to either provide regen or generate energy with all of EV mode being cancelled. The problem was not with the battery or TBCM, but an error caused the PCM to prevent an overheat condition by disabling some the eCVT components. You can bet that the generator was still suppling current to the 12V system though.

The error was generated to the PCM when I ran out of gas and the PCM and other computers went into LOS. I can't say for sure, but I did not notice the feel of regen when I let off the pedal at 41mph to slow up. It appears the draining of the battery is not an issue with the battery temp or EV mode.
