What MPG people getting on 4WD FEH's?

Re: What MPG people getting on 4WD FEH's?
In doing a search of off-road, people seem to think the FED is at least somewhat off-road capable. It can't climb Everest, but some off-road seems to be within reach. Are you saying that changed significantly in 2009, Colchiro, or that you don't agree that are off-road capable to begin with?
Code:
Specifications 2008 2007 Exterior length 174.7" 174.9" Exterior body width 71.1" 70.1" Exterior height 67.7" 70.4"

My mistake. The changes were made in 2008, not 2009.
I'm not saying it's not capable off-road, just that the ground clearance has decreased and those air dams are there.
Code:
Specifications 2008 2007 Exterior length 174.7" 174.9" Exterior body width 71.1" 70.1" Exterior height 67.7" 70.4"
The 2006-2008 models have 8.5" clearance.
The 2009 model has 8.3" clearance.
I find this interesting because the 2008 model year introduced the new body style - I would have expected it to have the same clearance as the 2009, rather than the 2006-2007 models.

Re: What MPG people getting on 4WD FEH's?
The 2009 got a new engine, rear sway bar and some tweaked aerodynamic touches. I expect that one of those items is to blame for the slight reduction in clearance. If I had to put money on it I would say the rear sway bar. There are pictures of that piece somewhere on this site.

Sway Bar
Let me know how the sway bar affects ground clearance. As I get it the sway bar only exerts a force when the car is tilted side to side. When level its shouldn't affect clearance,.

Bill,
Here's a link to an image of the new-for-2009 rear sway/anti-roll/stabilizer bar. Note that it is mounted slightly lower than the main rear suspension housing by aprox. 0.2 inches.
Thanks to GrayG for sharing this image.

Re: What MPG people getting on 4WD FEH's?
Sounds like everyone else is getting about what I get with my awd 09'. I only have about 6K on the odemeter and I'm getting about 26-27 on the highway and up closer to 30 around town, hoping all that increases a bit as it breaks in a bit more.
As someone mentioned the warm weather is making a big improvement also, I noticed right away when it got warmer a couple weeks ago it was staying in EV alot longer, engine cutting off more while parked etc, it's very noticable.

I had to adjust my driving techniques much different than my '05 FEH but this '09 FEH gets far better MPG than my '05. I sure hope you see a big improvement in MPG when it warms up because I have a lifetime average with my '09 FWD of 48.2mpg with 9,000 miles. I seen a jump in mileage at around 5,000 miles after it cooled down here in South FL, but I started using Desertdog's restart technique about then also.
How cold is it when you guys with the '09 can only get 30mpg in your AWD in city driving? What about you '09 FWD owners?
