Unhappy Who left that window open!?

I did. That' s who. Something I never do. And of course it's the day that the great Georgia drought of 2007 ends, if only for a day. Pouring down rain for about twenty minutes. When I get to my car to drive home after work, (I'm like all) "Oh sh*t! who left that window open?" Front passenger side electric window all the way down.

My 2007 FEH with leather and under seat CD changer got rained in.

The seat and inside of the door were soaked. There was no standing water on the carpet, but it's soaked.

I haven't checked to see if the CD player works. I'm just gonna leave it off until the thing dries out. I use my Zune with the PIE X3 contraption, but will leave that off, too.

So, what to do? I'd like to lift up the carpet and dry it out under there, though I'm hoping it has some drainage holes built in. Anybody know?

How do I remove the door sill holding down the edge of the carpet? There are little plastic buttons covering the screws or whatever fasteners are there. Is there a trick to avoid breaking them?

Thanks,

I'd mop out all the water you can with towels, then run the car with AC on in recirc mode and heat at max (red zone) for a number of hours until it dries it self out. You have a built in dehumidifier, as such.

Sorry for your hassle.

Its best to lift the carpet and dry with a fan. There is padding under the carpet that will not dry untill mold starts growing. There are no drain holes that are open, some cars have plugs that are sealed from the factory, some times you can pry them open but I doubt there is that much water that a couple of towels wont take care of.

I spilled a jug of water on my carpet one time. I used a shop vac to dry it up. It worked pretty well. You might want to try that.

Great idea a little green machine or carpet extractor would do even better.
