The real "learning tool" in driving these hybrids besides the Econo Guage is to switch the DIC from AVG MPG to INSTANTANEOUS MPG.

You, of course will get so-so MPG in city driving and won't notice much change in AVG MPG. However if you are on a long trip and put it in cruise at 65, it will go into V4 Hybrid Mode, then reset the AVG MPG and you can see 22-24 MPG.

If purchasing used I would strongly advise getting a 2011 or later. Reason: They changed the electrical architecture to allow add on aftermarket accessories like fog lights etc.

BTW I have 80,000 miles on mine and it still has the OEM brake pads with only 5% wear on them.....pretty phenominal....all the braking is done regeneratively by the electric motors if you do not slam on the brakes very often.

This would be good advice if it wasn't even for the fact that observing the display whilst driving is even more distracting than texting ... especially in an urban/suburban environment where the mpg information displayed would be somewhat useful.

So don't do that please.

I actually would like to look at the DIC for the speed than the speedo dial. But since my concealed V1 display is blocking the view, went back to check on speedo for speed not DIC.

I just got this 2009 Yukon (22500miles) an when I drove it out of the lot it was reading 19.1, but now that I'm now driving, I've getting 12-14 mpg.

I'm trying to help, I added 2 new front tires, the front end was out of aliment and made the original tire wore incorrectly.

Also added an airaid filter system.

And I took off the stupid crappy plastic lower aid dam (this I'm concerned about)

Thanks, Ed B.

Your right eye-catching display should be avoided while driving. Thanks for the advice.
