Hybrid camping upgrade
Hello all,
We've been loving our gen 2 prius campers for several years now but the 10 year old is getting too tall to sleep in a stretcher across the front seats and we would like the extra room of something bigger. Of course it will mean giving up a good bit of the gas mileage but even with a lift kit we've been pushing it where we can go so 4x4 (awd) is on the list. I build houses and pizza ovens out of mud so I have been eyeing the older Silverados or even an older highlander for the bigger carrying capacity but the wifey is kinda sweet on a low mileage rav4 hybrid because it is younger in our budget and cheaper to operate. Anyone care to share experience on the long term durability and cost of the older bigger models vs the rav4 or should I just put a roof tent and bigger tires on the prius? Thank you all. --mud

Re: Hybrid camping upgrade
the Colorado is a good option
I would not get one of these because parts are getting scarce i'm going to completely dump the Hybrid powertrain for a 4.8l and 6 speed when i can't smog it anymore or when it does not move anymore...
I had a silverado 1500 with a 4.8 I got 20-22 on the highway with it
i should have keep it and dumped my impala the person who bought it ended up crashing it too much truck for them
