I live in Toronto and my Auto stop works just fine. I have a 2006 HCH. I know that the 2004 HCH Auto stop does not work when the OAT is about 4C.

Sounds good, I guess Hybrids work good in Toronto, like the radio guys said. My 2007 HCH auto stop has not worked since it got cold. That's not the problem "no heat" is the problem.

Hi Starman
It sounds more and more like the thermostat is stuck open not allowing the engine to get up to temperature. Take it in and tell Honda to repair it before you freeze to death. Your HCH has a problem and I would put money on the thermostat stuck open.
Good luck, keep us posted!

I took a drive today on the highway and had AC off. I am a bit disappointed that my milage went from 6.8l/100km to 6.4l/100km. I thought that it would be better than that. My battery however went to full charge - 8 bars. The OAT was 1c. The trip was about 60km, enough to fully charge my battery from 6 bars to 8 bars but milage is my main concern. Expecting better like 40+ mpg - 5.5l/100km. Could there be something wrong with the car since I only have it 4days now or be patient and the milage should get better. Oh I drove 100km/hr for the whole trip and instant milage read between 0l/100km amd 6l/100km. Comments Welcomed.

I was so worried with the milage that I went out again today and put all tires at 40lbs also fill her up reset the A trip and took another drive. This time I got 5.8L/100km. I am now happy. Hopefully with a little practice I will get it down to 5.0l/100km. Thanks to all for your comments/advise. Cheers

Your getting there! You have all kinds of things to learn yet. Puts fun back into driving, I think?

This would explain the no heat issue. How about the 10.2 l/100km on the last fill? If I wanted to get 23 mpg I would be driving a full size car with a V6. That would have heat for sure.

Well if your engine is not getting to operating temperatures your FE will not be good.Is the temperature gauge even moving from cold? Hal

Symptom of failing (stuck open, not closing properly, etc) coolant thermostat is abnormally low engine temp after extended freeway drive. This tends to cool most efficiently, and if your thermostat is staying open, this is the time your engine temps will show too low. FWIW, our in-dash gauge usually shows bars almost to the thermometer icon, when warmed up.

If you want moment-to-moment feedback, make sure your upper dash is showing the realtime mileage.
