That's a sweet looking ride (or former ride). I can understand why you'd quietly cry to yourself. Sign me up for the the Active Hybrid Diesel M3 as well....

That sounds about right. I just had to sell my 07 HCH for 22.5K it had 25,000 miles on it and that was trade in! So I don't see you having any problem selling or trading if you need to. It only makes sense if the dealers are putting 2-3K or more on new ones then the price of the used ones would also go up. Its crazy what people are paying for the prius. But I guess its all about what the market will bear.

The baby is due in Feb. If we trade for a minivan, should I do it now -Summer when gas prices are high - or in Feb - Winter when gas prices are low.

I think the HCHII depreciation is directly tied to gas prices, no?

Yes I will attest that prices started rising fast when gas prices hit $4+. I know because I was watching cars.com, ebay, craigslist when I was looking for an HCHII during the spring/summer.

I would see a cheaper one listed, call them, and they'd say "Just sold".

I finally found a 2006 w/48k miles for $18k.

I probably paid too much, but it was one owner, from the south (no rust) and was the exact colors that I wanted. Plus taxes and insurance are cheaper on a used car.

Back in early '05 the local Toyota dealer had a '04 Prius on his lot for the same price as a new HCH. Needless to say, I got the HCH.
