Your units position is most logical. Info in your line of sight.

My OCD will make me try my proposed set-up first, only because I can't look at that cable.....I'd end up drilling a hole in the dash so to feed the wire directly to the unit.....and I've already drilled enough holes in my dash for my heated seat buttons a few years ago.....

I did not want to drill.It is very handy directly in front of you especially when trying to stay in the Sham mode. Much less trouble watching it. You could mount it there and if the wire bugs you,you can easily move as no damage done! H

I wish I knew, but my guess is both. When I do manage to stay in that zone- great mileage indeed ..

Probably the biggest reason would be tires. Are you rolling on LRR? Also air pressure must be 40lbs. 60lbs. Cold weather can also effect things. Car over loaded is another factor. I don't think it is the battery because when-ever you are in sham LOD 50 and below and IGN 28+36 you are not using regen. If you see regen then the ICE LOD is more than likely about 70 or 80. I was out last week on a 15 mile out and back trip same road, and manage 74+. Granted I was in no hurry! The key is to keep the load below 50. H

Harold, is this the sweet spot <50 and >30?
Unit arrived in mail today, going to spend afternoon setting up....wonder what codes, if any, I'll find. Show and tell at the dealer tomorrow (to demo my weak battery) whilst enroute to NAIAS in Detroit.

Looks like I'll have a new trick to while away the hours droning on the 401 this week......

One last question regarding set-up: does the ICE have to actually be running for the ScanGauge to initialize, or is simply key on/engine off sufficient?

Sweet spot is Ign 28-37 degrees. LOD 50 and lower. H

Oh and the SOC must be 50% and better. Full stat Off Charge gives best SHAM results. H

Scangauge in place, about to run first drive with it.

Codes in memory found: C1555; C1500; P0001 and B0800.

I cannot find these codes listed anywhere in my "2006 Civic hybrid Service manual"

Any ideas?

First drive and first tank re-fill with the ScanGauge.

Observations
1. When the key is "on" but engine is off, the unit thinks there is fuel being used
2. When under IMA propulsion only and Honda instrument shows 0L/100 km, unit thinks fuel is being used
3. Fuel under estimates fuel currently being used versus Honda instrument panel
4. Idle stop at an intersection, unit thinks fuel being used thus shows '9999' L/100 km.

Under Advanced Setup Parameters, I thought to change the Fuel Cutoff Setting from factory default 24 to some other number (0-99). I have not because it does not make logical sense to me if I should increase from 24 or decrease from 24. The ScanGauge instruction book states "If ScanGauge improperly detects fuel cutoff, then you may see fuel economy being reported as 9999 MPG or 0.00 LHK."

My issue seems that I cannot get it to read 0.00 LHK

That became painfully obvious to me about two minutes into the drive.........right before my recal......
