How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

All,

I'm planning on purchasing a HAH in the Sept. - Oct. timeframe and wondering if I could get some advice on getting the best price. Because I'm under the assumption that the HAH is a hot ticket, I'm thinking that even armed with all of the dealer invoice, etc. information that I could get from edmunds.com, that there won't be much wiggle room below MSRP for me.

I'm planning on getting the model with the navigation system.

Anyone have any success at getting a HAH w/nav. system (and preferably spare tire) for more than $500 below MSRP?

Thanks for any info.,
Wes Gamble

P. S. Does anyone know if the 06 model will come out before the end of 05 or is the current one an 05-06 and the next model year won't come out until sometime in '06?

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

$30K, even, w/Navi (and mud guards), 3 weeks ago (although the deal was made about a month and a half ago). Also check ebay. There are always cars going there for around invoice or not much more. One dealer is auctioning the cars for invoice PLUS the bid amount, and bids have been accepted around $400 over invoice. There seem to be lots of dealers with cars in stock, although you might have to wait for the right color, especially with navigation. I suspect any shortages of these cars is a local thing, and if you are willing to travel a little, you can potentially save thousands of dollars. Traveling 200 miles saved me $5600 over what my local dealer was willing to sell for (adding to MSRP and not negotiating).

I suspect the '06 Accord body "freshening" will happen in Sept/Oct or so, along with the regular model year 06 changeover. However, that doesn't mean the Hybrids will be available at the same time, as they come from Japan. (Maybe, or maybe not).

Hi Weyus:

___As Dale B posted, there are a number of dealerships around the country selling for near Invoice on the AH. A particular LA. Dealership that sells them on E-Bay has been rumored to sell them direct with a phone call. I have seen more then once $130 under invoice for a Non-NAVI if that helps.

I got mine back in April for about $500 over invoice w/Navi. At the time, I figured I was lucky to get anything below MSRP. Maybe I could have shopped around a little more and saved a few hundred dollars, but I was very happy to get any discount at all and I didn't want to spend any more time shopping. I love my HAH!!! :)

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

I bought my HAH from the aforementioned dealership in Louisiana, Holmes Honda. My Navi car w/mud guards and aftermarket window tint was $30,250.

Wes, your post doesn't say what part of the country you are from but my experience with Holmes was good and I would recommend them to others. Even if that's far away (they are in Shreveport, Louisiana) it is leverage to use with your local dealer(s) since they post their cars on eBay and you can easily document the deal. My uncle did that with a dealer here in Dallas and they reluctantly met the price.

I, too, love my HAH and I wish you good luck!

Is the HAH eligible for the 2006 hybrid credit ?

Yes, it should be eligible for the minimum $400 credit. It gets over 25% better city mpg than the comparison in its 3500 pound interia weight class (found in an EPA report).

Sean,

I'm in Houston, TX so I may look into that Shreveport dealership - nice trip to take :).

Thanks,
Wes

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

Yes, you should. I found them to be helpful and friendly, unlike some big city dealerships. None of the Dallas-area dealerships were willing to deal much. In fact, many had the cars sold before they arrived. :omg: I could have used the Shreveport dealer as leverage, but I decided that a) I wanted to go check them out as I'd never been to Shreveport and hence the casinos there and b) I thought it appropriate to reward the dealer who is truly advertising cars for cheap instead of rewarding the dealer who meets the price only because he has to.
In the end, I'm glad I did. I hit a $50 video poker jackpot (a royal flush ;) ) and had a first nice drive with the vehicle. If you talk to Ms. Kristi Alexander, tell her Sean from Dallas says "Howdy!"

Sean,

I looked for cars @ the Holmes dealership on eBay but couldn't find 'em. I was just doing a search for HAH on eBay motors. Is there something else I should be looking for?

Thanks,
Wes

Wes have you checked Honda of Clear Lake? In March of 04 they gave me the best price on my civic and when I was in there the other day for oil change and recall they had a few Accords on the lot. Might want to e-mail the dealership. Kevin

They may not have any posted there right now. They appear to have (4) HAH w/Navi in stock. You can query at www.holmeshonda.com. MSRP = $32,140, I paid $30,250 and that included fender guards and aftermarket tint.

weyus 08-10-2005 11:39 AM

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

Sean,

Was that $30,250 pre-sales tax and destination charge or was it the total bottom line price?

I'm getting quoted price of 29,442 for a vanilla HAH w/Navi, which I think is pretty good.

Thanks,
Wes

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

That does seem good. :shade: Mine included destination charge but was before sales tax. Since I am a Texas resident, I paid the state auto tax of 6.25%. Yours may vary depending on what state you will be titling the vehicle in. Snap one up. I think you'll like it. ;)

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

I got somebody down to $29,200 for HAH w/navi. + destination (pre-tax).

I think that's pretty good.

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

A dealer near me has a "no haggle" price of about 26.6k for the non-navi model. They had several on the lot last I looked..
autofair.com

You need to enter an email address to look at the price. I just use something like a@b.com.

I used their price to convince another dealer to beat it by several hundred. Just picked it up yesterday.

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

I just bought an Accord Hybrid with navigation. The dealer threw in splash guards, etching and pin stripes for $28,800 plus tax and title (delivery included).

After I made the deal over the phone, a dealer who had previously quoted $30,000 called and cut his price to $28,200. I told him that my word was worth more than $600.

It is the end of the model year so my advice is to negotiate but if you want navigation, act quickly. They are difficult to find. My dealer had to go 195 miles into an adjoining state to get mine.

I just got an 05 HAH w/ Navi for $27,677 + TTL. Had to pay $485 for Tint, Mud Flaps and Wheel Locks since it was on the car (tint is OK as it's needed here in Tx). It came to $28,162 + TTL which is a very good deal as one dealer was still quoting in the $30K's and one wanted sticker.

The two prices of $27448 and $27677 were from Goodson West and Gillman Ft. Bend respectively. I was all set to buy from Goodson but they treated us like crap so I took my business to Ft. Bend. I pickup the car tonight as it was on the showroom floor at another Gillman dealership.

Bought an 05 Accord Hybrid from Bankston Honda with Lewisville, TX

With Navi $28,400 including destination plus TTL. Internet department was great. No other Dallas / Fort Worth dealer came close to that price. So far I am very pleased with my HAH.

With the supply of HAHs dwindeling now that the 2005s are running out, the best deal I am able to find in Big D is in the $30,500. Is this paying way too much?

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

I am not sure of the going price right now; however, this would be the week to get the deals (it is the end of the month - quota time!) My suggestion would be to set a price you think is reasonable, then fax/email/phone all of the fleet managers at every dealership in your area (I also called all dealerships in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and others) and see what they will work with.

Good luck!!

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

Picked up my HAH Graphite with Navi about a month ago... Think best way to get the best price is to post around and request quotes via the internet. Experienced this first hand in the Chicagoland area. Some of the dealers that I went to visit wouldn't budge off of the sticker except for $500.... maybe they saw me pull up in my Navigator (gas guzzler) and thought I was gonna pay sticker for a more fuel efficient car. I sent a couple of requests from the honda website to several of the other dealers in the area and got one in the color I wanted for $28,700 total before taxes, tag, title with Navigation.

At the end of August we paid $32,000 out the door for one with NAV.

That included 5/100k HondaCare warranty also.

I got two quotes for $27450 and another for $27350. I ended up with a Demo 05 HAH with Navi and four oil change for $26250. Prequalify with E-loan and bring the confirmation email with you and ask your loan officer to beat it. If you are interested in EW, get a quote from http://www.hondawarrantyinfo.com/ and have the dealer match the price.

Good luck.

Re: How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

in my shopping experience the HAH was NOT a hot ticket ... Community Honda in Whittier, CA had 3 (grey) HAH (non Navi) advertised for $27,700 a month ago when i started shopping ... i drove by there yesterday and they still had all 3 ... now they were window marked "$4,650 off sticker" (aka $26,018) ... i bought my 2005 HAH from Norm Reeves West Covina, CA and paid $25,700 silver 2005 HAH (he had 11 in stock left after i took delivery) ... if you want the 2005 and your local dealer is giving you the run around buy it from one of those ^ and have it shipped for $500

FYI ... the HAH-Navi wasnt offered at the same discount ...
