I finally got those pictures off my camcorder from my weekend trip to the SoCal hybrid meet on April 30, 2006.

My tank on April 29 from El Mirage, AZ to Willcox, AZ and back to El Mirage, AZ:

My tank from El Mirage, AZ to Chino, CA and back across the border into AZ (don't remember the name of the town just West of Quartzite, AZ):

My tank from that unknown town near the CA/AZ border and back to El Mirage, AZ:

I have had a few 600 mile tanks in my now 1 year old HAH Non-Navi. I'm usually down to about 2 gals left in my tank and the tank low level light has been on for at least 80 miles. My commute is 85 miles each way, all NYS Thruway, and the only stops are to get on and off the thruway. I usually, in the summer, get 40-42mpg.

I'm convinced that I would get this same milage if the car had no electric motor or batteries in it, probably better, due to the weight loss. The ECO mode is the only option on the hybrid that is working on my commute. And when I'm driving around town, the electric assist rarely comes into play, most likey due to my driving style....I'm definitly not patient enough to be a hyper milage type of guy.

you are completely right. Cylinder deactivation is 90% of the cause for gains on the hwy.

umm... you ARE the definition of hypermiler, per your results (why aren't you posting them anymore?). Just because you don't consciously have to think about it doesn't mean you aren't anyway. Its the results that matter. Put you in a different car, you'd probably do better than EPA as well.

Gonavy,
What I meant was that around town, where hyper mileaging skills and patience really come into play, I generally only get 27-29 mpg. On the thruway, I just set it at 64-65 and crank up the tunes. The only impacts to my milage are cold and wind.
I have a tremendous pile of gas receipts with the respective miles written on them...maybe when I get the time I'll figure it out and post them.

Well, I haven't hit the 500 mark yet, but the first two tanks in my '06 have been right at 400 miles and I'm in heaven. 29 MPG during typical SoCal traffic. I can't wait to try a road trip.

gotcha.

It's exceedingly hard to do particularly well in our V6 gashogs around town without resorting to a lot of FASing and whatnot. Our Honda's are definitely highway animals.
