hello from Australia!

Re: hello from Australia!
I dont know about you guys but I can afford my cars (no matter which ones... yes... those too and ... that particular model... well, that's kind of insane but I think I could do it)
I bought my Hybrid because I drive alot and need good mpg (I dont care if I max it out) need the Carpool lane and need a new car. Regarding the good mpg is more than money... it's let's say half time spent at the gas stations... half time of getting mad for the ascending prices.
I drive 2k-4k miles a month, my hybrid almost has 2k but I bought it in 16 Jan, so figure out.... I like the smooth ride and it's true, it really calmed me down a bit...

Sledge: Well I guess that's just the point, you never claimed that it was your opinion and "portrayed" even though maybe un-intentional, you just gave the impression that you were the high and all mighty one. Like Shenfo, I picked up on it right away.
No, I have never read that book.
Masgian: I also put about 2k a month at least on my car so mileage is most important to me and this car has also calmed me down a lot as far as agressive driving is concerned. So far, it looks like I will be saving about $100 a month on gas so I can put that towards my car payment to pay it off sooner than expected. Like that Sledge?? Just kidding

Hello, Australia! (side note. I was in Australia a long time ago- drove from Melbourne to Adelaide, but I didn't get as far north as Brisbane. I bet it's beautiful, though, if it's anything like the southern coast. What kinds of cars are big there now? Lots of SUVs like here, or is it mostly smaller cars like Europe?)
Sledge- my father agrees with you completely, and my family always saved up and paid cash for cars until I bought my hybrid this past year (recent grad, first car, new job; need financing). Certainly it's one school of thought- why pay all that interest if you don't have to? But when it came time for my to buy my first car, my father didn't know a thing about financing, so he wasn't much help. My pre-negotiated base price was reasonably good, or I think it was, and getting the online quote through the credit union (a carquotes.com affiliate) was linked to getting financing from that credit union, which also gave a .25% interest rate cut for being a recent graduate. Interest rates are around 4-5% on the lower end here now, unless my info is old.

Re: hello from Australia!
I'm not a rich guy by any means, but my wife and I had no interest in paying out a loan. so we saved a bit, shifted some funds around and wrote a check for our HCH. Some folks get new cars every few years, our last car was a 92 ford escort, so we were due.with any luck we will be driving "pearl" for 14 years also. It feels good owning the HCH outright right from the start and believe me all you who are waiting. It's worth the wait!!
cheers
