Six years after Honda introduced its hybrid Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology, in which a petrol engine is backed up by an electric motor, global sales have exceeded 100,000. By far the biggest market, accounting for nearly 90% of the total, is America. Last year, 27,000 examples of the Insight, Civic IMA and Accord IMA went to American customers.
