Default AAA confused about "Hypermiling"?

According to Technoride, AAA is sowing fear & confusion about "hypermiling" by casting it as being centered on tailgating trucks, rolling thru stop signs, and turning off ignition... who would do such things?

Actually..... some of those things HAVE been discussed by a select FEW individuals who hypermile. Turning off the ignition has been brought up several times, what can arguably be called tailgating as well (it depends on ones perception of what is TOO close of course) putting more air pressure in the wheels than the MAX sidewall says there should be, etc.

I could have sworn I saw a more complete release somewhere from AAA... they weren't discouraging hypermiling per se, they were discouraging some of the more dangerous techniques that a few have used.

The article... like many released by the news media... looks like its been cut to such a minimum that the overall message has been obscured.

Drastic times call for drastic measures. In the future you may find AAA brochures on how to draft or tailgate safely by letting the driver ahead of you know that you will be tailgating and how to take a turn at higher speeds without getting a blowout etc...
Police will not longer be stopped on the side of the road idling but instead will be close drafting a rig while performing radar on the opposing lanes.
Church services can be run over the internet and at the bottom there will be a button to click for offerings (just add credit card) This will surely save on gas.
