Default Axcess car -- stopped in 2001

WHAT might have been the green future of Australia's struggling automotive industry lies in the basement of a Museum Victoria warehouse, parked next to a battered Valiant once used in a TV show.
The car, completed in 2000, is a fuel sipping electric-petrol hybrid built entirely in Australia to a novel design by the CSIRO and the local car industry.
. . .
But at a time of low fuel prices, just before September 11, 2001, the Federal Government decided there would not be much interest in the US and stopped further funding. . . .
I had not heard of this hybrid electric until a Google news search popped it up. The inventor wants to take it out of the museum and get it working again. I hope he succeeds. This is more than a concept and closer to an engineering proof of concept.
