Let me refresh your memoy.

You'll see right there AshenGrey said that anyone who reads the bible is part of a group that he claims is operating a "Patriot Police" force that he thinks will knock on his door at 3:00 AM. That's an extremist statement.

Right there, Eric claimed that anyone who is in the Republican party is in the fossil fuel industry's pocket. Again, he makes amazing claims that every single member of a political party belongs to some sort of secret group where they mindlessly are trying to destroy the Earth apparently.

Now here in this post we have this amazing simultaneous attack on Republicans, "Big Oil", Christians, and billionares, apparently. Check this one out:

So he says that apparently everyone who reads the bible is a Republican that's bought and "sold" (although he meant to say bought and owned) by Big Oil, whatever that is, and is greedy and stupid.

That brings us to this post by Jason, the site administrator a while ago.

Of course, not to leave Schwa out, check out this post he made.

and then there's the opposite spectrum of faith, the fundies who are determined to destroy the environment and start wars so that their saviour can come and rescue them and leave non-christians in eternal torture. Unfortunately they are in power, as well as being at least 44% of the voters.
He claims that "fundies" which I assume is a shortened word for fundimentalists, are determined to destroy the environment and start wars and leave non-Christians in eternal torture. So as to be sure he was clear, he says they are in power and 44% of all voters. This of course is the same generalization that every Christian is a fundamentalists, a Republican, and is trying to destroy the world and all non-Christians.

It goes on and on and on.

I wanted to address this one separately. While Bush is a Christian, he is not a religious leader. In other countries, say, Iran, you have religious leaders who are political leaders. They have been known to issue Fatwas from time to time declaring that the US is the Great Satan, harboring groups that kill Americans, and so on. US leaders in turn have declared some of these nations to be members of the Axis of Evil, although in an ironic twist, we still haven't attacked any of these Axis nations, likely because they have nukes and aren't afraid to use them.

It's obvious people of any belief system - and keep in mind that Atheism is a belief system - can go too far. The problem arises when you see people making generalizations about how absolutely everyone is evil, or that all Christians are greedy and stupid, and so on. All that does is demonstrate your personal hatred for anyone that isn't in your own belief system. That won't get you anywhere useful.

Default Open Letter to AshenGrey and the Rest of GreenHybrid

I know the rest of GreenHybrid will read this open letter.

If we are lucky, AshenGrey will read it and make a positive contribution in subsequent posts.

AshenGrey's worst enemy is obviously Rush Limbaugh (check his post). Although a different point of view, AG's methods are identical: simplistic generalizations, demonizations, polarizing, inaccurate, contempful of differing views.

If you are attempting to get others to agree with you, it's backfired horribly - somehow you refuse to realize it. Again, your methods are identical to Rush Limbaugh. Unwittingly, you are driving people away from your point of view. Seriously....businessmen plotting just like the TV soap opera Dallas - I'm amazed the middle class has not already been wiped out in the pictures you paint. Last I checked, The Church Lady is not running America like the Ayatollahs of Iran. In the What is your political leaning? thread, a substantial percentage (25-30%?) are "evil" according to your profile.

I am discouraged by today's US politics being dominated in both parties by immoderate party operatives that practice "take no prisoner" over compromise. I'm sorry that you choose to make GreenHybrid a battleground for general politics - it seems to be your main topic. AshenGrey, you might as well be saying "your are either for me or against me" - seriously.

I tried to steer Several States May Set Their Own CO2 Limits back to hybrids and you ignore it, starting a flame-war. For some inexplicitable reason, you repeatly dissed the Insight in a thread and it led to a flame-war. It was closed because of you and it had nothing to do with politics.

I hope GreenHybrid will continue to have civil political discussion in spite of this. While other members have similiar views to your's I'm respectful because they don't resort to hate speech. I generally agree with this post by AZCivic in regards to the hate speech (The other members AZCivic calls out generally keep their post civil - this is a needless flame-war AG started).

I've hit some nerves in the past, but often I make corrective actions. AshenGrey - can you do that and do a "softer sell"? Getting sociable with members rather than being insultive might be more persuasive....

If you are not big enough to stop the flame-baiting, I hope you become ignored and irrelevant.

Update: I'd like to this post once the participants have read it. Not only do I want to forget the negative posts (#14 and most of the rest) in this thread, I earnestly hope all involved refrain from a repeat of this.
