just for kicks I did a search for a 06 Prius battery on car-part.com. They range from $650 to ~$1500

You'll be required to outbid Toyota if you want a battery from a junkyard, because Toyota pays a $200 "bounty" on used batteries as a part of their recycling program. So you might could get one for $250.
